Masjid-e-Ayesha, one of the oldest Sunni (Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jama’ah) masjids serving the local Muslim community, located at 2409B W Devon Avenue, Chicago, IL 60659.
Masjid-e-Ayesha is guided by Maulana Mohsin Makki Qadri, the Imam o Khateeb of the Masjid. Maulana Mohsin Makki Qadri Qadri is a Hafiz and an Aalim, having completed his Aalim course from Al Jamiatul Ashrafia. He is also a Mureed and Khalifa of Hazrat Sayyedi Tajush Shari’a (Alaihi Rahma), Hazrat Mufti Mohammed Akhtar Raza Khan Qadri Azhari. The masjid has been under the dedicated leadership of Masjid President Syed Abdul Qadir Bapu, who has faithfully served the masjid and its community for many years.
Masjid-e-Ayesha follows the Ahle Sunnat Wa Jama’at (Maslak-e-Ala Hazrat) and the Hanafi school of Islamic thought. It provides a peaceful environment for worship, reflection, and learning, and is known for its warm and welcoming atmosphere. The masjid holds all five daily prayers as well as the Jummah (Friday) prayer with sermon (khutbah). Educational programs are an important part of the masjid’s mission, including Quranic classes for children and adults, Tafseer sessions, and religious study circles.
In addition to daily and educational activities, Masjid-e-Ayesha also hosts programs for many holy Islamic events throughout the year. These include celebrations of Mawlid un Nabi (Milad-un-Nabi), Gyarvi Shareef (commemorating the life and teachings of Shaykh Abdul Qadir Jilani), Mahafils in the holy month of Muharram, and gatherings during Rajab for Shab-e-Mi’raj and Shab-e-Barat, among others. During the blessed month of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the masjid organizes a Juloos (procession) along with other local masjids and community members to commemorate the birth of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, known as Eid Milad-un-Nabi. These events reflect the masjid’s deep connection to the traditions of Islam and the teachings of Ahlu Sunnah wal Jama’ah (Ahl-e-Sunnat wa Jama’at).
In addition to spiritual guidance, the masjid plays an active role in community engagement. During Ramadan, Masjid-e-Ayesha hosts Iftar gatherings and special nightly prayers. The masjid also offers youth programs, such as Saturday English classes for boys supervised by Maulana Mohsin Makki Qadri, helping young Muslims strengthen their faith and character. The masjid emphasizes values of peace, tolerance, and coexistence within the broader Chicago community.
The masjid’s facilities are well-maintained and include separate prayer areas for women and accessibility features to accommodate all worshippers. Community members frequently praise its cleanliness, organization, and spiritual atmosphere, contributing to its 4.9-star online rating. Masjid-e-Ayesha continues to serve as both a place of worship and a community hub, bringing together people for faith, education, celebration, and unity in the heart of Chicago.
